Illinois Women Conquer ALZ

Founded in 2017, Illinois Women Conquer ALZ seeks to engage and empower more women in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by raising awareness and taking action through fundraising events, education and advocacy initiatives.

Lourdes Cornelius

Alzheimer’s continues to affect the lives of friends who either become caregivers or are responsible for an elderly family member. I was first exposed to Alzheimer’s disease when my husband’s grandfather began going out for walks and was unable to find his way home.

Jessica Wright

Jessica WrightI was on the Illinois Alzheimer’s Association website, and I saw the initial kick off event to start the membership for IWCA. After attending the event, I eventually signed up to join the group. My biochemistry professor – Dr. Jin -inspired me to be more involved in this research. I would like to be involved scientifically, but being a part of this group enables me to help in another way, which is raising funds for research.
